I’m a published entrepreneur and the proud founder of Naptroyal Beauty—a brand built on passion, perseverance, and purpose. Inspired by the iconic hair magazines of the '90s like Black Hair and Hype Hair, I became fascinated by natural hair care and questioned why so many in our community felt pressured to wear weaves instead of embracing their natural beauty.
My journey began in middle school during a salon day with an all-girls club, where I got my first glimpse into the world of hairstyling. By high school, I was braiding classmates’ hair and perfecting my craft, eventually building a loyal clientele that spanned across my city.
After relocating to Minneapolis in 2005, I discovered that cosmetology schools lacked training in natural hair and braiding. Following personal hardships—including job loss, eviction, and even jail time for minor traffic violations—I returned to Omaha and recommitted to my passion. Despite many setbacks, I refused to give up. I worked in customer service by day and styled hair by night, determined to make my dream a reality.
Over the years, I moved across several states—Texas, Nevada, and Georgia—chasing opportunities, building businesses, and sometimes starting from scratch. I joined entrepreneurial networks, co-founded a women’s empowerment group, and learned the value of mentorship, financial literacy, and community. Even through homelessness, heartbreak, and health struggles, I never stopped moving forward.
In 2010, I created my first natural hair product: a Loc & Twist Butter that would eventually become part of the Naptroyal product line. Officially launched in 2018, Naptroyal quickly gained traction, earning opportunities like a spot in the ESPY Awards gift bags and a top-selling partnership with Blck Market Houston. My brand was also featured in Voyage Houston and Fashion Gxd Magazine, celebrating my journey as an entrepreneur and innovator in the natural hair space.
In 2020, I faced one of the hardest moments of my life—being hospitalized for depression and anxiety. But with the support of mentors and my unwavering faith, I came back stronger. After relocating again to care for my mother in Minneapolis, I knew it was time to plant deep roots and pour everything I’ve learned into building a legacy—right here at home.
Through Naptroyal Beauty, I now teach aspiring Braidticians and Locticians not just the art of natural hair, but how to build confidence, develop a plan, and pursue purpose over profit. I believe in doing things the “Wright Way,” and I’m here to pave the path for the next generation of stylists to thrive in authenticity, skill, and self-worth.
